I’m a great craps fan and thought I would share some simple but effective tips for winning at craps.
Most importantly, don’t be duped by promises of a craps system to beat the house edge (and trust me, there are hundreds out there on the net!). There’s not a bet in craps that doesn’t have at least a slight house advantage. So your best strategy to increase your chances of winning is to …
make smart betting choices which means understanding the various bets and craps odds;
play only the handful of bets that offer the lowest house edge which are the pass and don’t pass bets and the come and don’t come bets (I know it sounds boring!);
avoid the proposition area since its filled with all the bets that have a really bad house edge;
always take the maximum odds allowed on your pass line bets (provided you can afford it); and
if you feel you really must play the field for some excitement (even though you only have a 44.4% probability of winning), do not play the field every roll or you will clearly lose in long term because of the house edge. By waiting to see three consecutive non-field rolls before you place a field bet, however, you will decrease the probability of losing to only 9.5 per cent.
